You should always insist on recorded delivery when buying from eBay. I do. The extra 75p or so saves no end of hassle.

As I posted in a thread some time ago, I was once standing outside the studio when the postman arrived, he reached into his bag and pulled out a bundle of letters, all wrapped in rubber bands, and handed them to me.

When I got back in the office and sorted through the pile, there was one of those "we tried to deliver a package, but no-one was in" cards. The idle bastard hadn't bothered to bring it out with him!
We have need of you again, great king.

I would'nt trust the post office at the moment, especially as a friend of mine is currently employed in the York sorting office over Christmas and i know that he sent a load of mail destined for london to Cardiff.I know this because he told me.As David brent would say, fact.

Parcelforce

Post by RetroDon »

Parcelforce are great, aren't they?
I bought a bike off ebay a couple of weeks and organised collection and delivery through Parcelforce. They failed to collect on the day they said they would, and when I rang the next day, I had to rebook. This involved them refunding my card the amount I had already paid, and then taking again for the self same amount (WHY??), thus ensuring my money, thanks to them, was tied up for days in our wonderful banking system.
In the end, the girl selling the bike got so sick of waiting for them to come and pick it up, she ended up taking to her local depot herself. I had paid for "48 hour delivery", and the item was finally picked up on the Thursday. Tracking it on the website, it was in my nearest depot the next morning and I was informed it would be delivered on the Monday. Fair do's...
Going on the internet tracking, I was pleased to see on the Monday thay the item was "out for delivery", so I duly stayed in and waited. And waited and waited and waited.... Once again it went out for delivery on the Tuesday, I rang and was assured it would arrive soon. It didn't. Out for delivery again on Wednesday, I stayed in and cleaned my house top to bottom.. Stayed in til 6pm, no delivery! It finally arrived mid-afternoon on the Thursday, a full week after it had been dispatched. This is a "guaranteed" 48-hour delivery service! Pitiful....
