Just when it seemed Big Ron had just started to redeem himself, he puts his size 9's well and truely in it with his quip about the Chinese population.
He can't understand WHY the population is SO huge as Chinese women are ugly.
Thats put him back 6 months with his enforced rehabilitation

I don't know the man so don't know myself whether he is racist or not but his original comment about Desailly was disgraceful.

I think this one is more ignorant than racist.

I don't know if any of you saw the documentary about him on the BBC when he went to America and all that but the feeling that I got was that he was more sorry for the trouble it had caused him than actually being sorry for what he said.

poor old ron he just cant get his head round all this politically correct business.i think he is excellant,one of the old school.even football is changing, these days it has gone all arty farty and respectable.i remember the good old days of going to stand in the north bank and watch Arsenal.they used to serve buckets of beer (4 pints) and everyone pissed up the wall and for a good laugh threw thier mates into the piss.when they played tottenham everyone would sing "spurs are on thier way to Auschwitz hitlers gonna gas em again" and even the spurs fans would laugh.these days you get Tarquin and Jeremy enjoying a prawn sandwich and a cappucino and you get thrown out by the stewards just for standing up.times have changed and you are a pariah if you dont embrace diversity and are not sensative to other peoples feelings

I felt for him on that docu, seemed he REALLY had to eat shit to make ammends.
The treatment by nasty little Darcus Howe on Ron was disgraceful, and I, for one, willed Ron to punch him, but thats not to take away the fact Ron was wrong to say what he did, but I think he has paid the price

The poor old white male can't joke about anyone but himself without the politically correct minority groups getting upset.

Must be hard for that generation given that they've gotten away with such comments for years with no opposition.The older you are the harder it is to change-FACT

I sometimes wonder if people of all persuasions understand that the basis of Humor is taking the piss out of someone and quite frequently this borders on racism-depending on how you look at it

He was set up by the Beeb. The radio talk show in the states where they had listeners phone in to decide if he Atky was a racist was ridiculous.

I agree with Ron wwhen he says that he can't go through the rest of his life apologising but I did get the feeling that he wasn't truly sorry but I suppose the only person that will know that for sure is Ron himself.

A few years a go when I was still single, I joked with a group of my mates that if I applied for a government (civil servant) job then I would be the most discriminated person at the interview.

Why? Because I was a single, straight, white, english speaking male and because of affirmative action (it does exist) then I would be in the minority.

Now I was stretching it a bit and maybe exagerating a little but there is a point there.

i think the whole idea of it was to show Ron having a road to Damascus conversion where he woke up to the hidden racist inside him and begged forgiveness from all and sundry and worshipped at the altar of multiculturalism and apologized for Britains racist colonial past and admitted that every single view held by him and his generation was wrong and outdated etc etc.when Ron didnt stick to the script the last scene was added to humiliate him in his meeting with Darkus howe.of course already under fire for what he said about Desailly there was no way he could tell him to fuck off but i think the look on his face said "i have had enough of this shit".all that was missing as a grand finale was where they took him outside put him up against a wall and shot him
