I know he's the architect of his own downfall, but this is still sad.
I lived in NYC for a while in the late 1980s and Goldstein was a riot, always attacking and abusing the pompous and self-righteous in his editiorials in Screw, his filth-rag. One of the few Americans to understand irony and to serve it with a large dollop of rough 'n' ready porn. He was far more truthful and amusing than a lot of American comedians these days.
Still, he's still selling holes, just a different kind.
