Not unless your grammar improves beyond recognition in the very near future. In addition, if you'd read the forum rules, you'd have realised that this posting would have been better placed on the "Off Topic" forum. ( Subjunctive clause there, nice touch huh? )

Just to rub it in...

According to my 2003/4 accounts I earned ?15,800 net of tax writing in the fiscal year ending 4/4/04. Not bad for a second job. This year ought to be even better. Thanks for your good wishes and I'll see you in the Groucho Club - I don't think.

Just to add that subjunctives are all but redundant/optional in modern English ....... "perish the thought".

Subjunctive

Post by Hugh Jampton »

Only because there is no subtlety in spoken or written English anymore. Even words like "could" and "would" seem to have fallen by the wayside. My only regret is that people who probably have real and valid ideas that they would like (oops, there was one ) to share with the rest of the English speaking world are frustrated because their attempts to put them across genuinely make no sense. See the forum for as many examples as you could wish for.

No wonder people get frustrated and reckon that the only way that they are ever going to make a mark on the world around them is to spray paint their "tag" onto every flat white surface in town!

And, no, I'm not an English teacher by profession :-)

And I know that starting a sentence with a conjunction is frowned upon in erudite circles! ( Get your dictionary out Revo, you'll find erudite in there somewhere. It might take you a while, mind you. ) ( Dictionary... little book full of words defined in alphabetical order, available at bookshops ) ( Bookshop, retail outlet where people buy ..... )
