So just because someone has been inside for a fairly minor crime means he should spend the rest of his life living in squalor and paying the price for his mistakes? Dont forget the number of people in this biz who have done time at one point in their lives - does the same apply to them?
He did the crime but he also did the time and now he has made something of his life and I for one respect him for having done so - sure as hell beats some people who float in and out of prison all their lives and commit multiple crimes and continue to cost us all money. He made a mistake (like many in the world) and now he has become a success - whether you like him from a personal stand point or not shouldnt influence your views on his past.

Re: David Dickinson , Crime does pay
I don't see the appeal of the bloke myself (unless you wanted to carve him into a writing desk or something), but as Jay says he has paid for his crime and made a new life for himself---so good on him. Mr Vaughan, much the same. Grantham having killed someone is more problematic, but he served the sentence meted out.
If you feel that "once a crim always a crim" then why not introduce captial punuishment for all offenders, since they're never going to change, are they? Murder? Hang 'im. Speeding? Hang 'im. Forgot to return a library book? Hang the bastard.
A lot of people have turned their lives around, been rehabilitated. They should be applauded for doing so.

Re: David Dickinson , Crime does pay
it's a crap argument and one I suspect has more to do with pt's dislike for Dickie than any 'crime does pay' stuff. loads of people have been inside for fuck ups when younger and gone on to be all round 'good eggs' look at Stephen Fry for example

Re: David Dickinson , Crime does pay
oh dear, someone sees a person on tv and assumes they are loaded and links that to a past prison sentence (could they maybe look at persons in the civil service who have a past conviction who we also pay for)
sorry I still say the arguement is crap, if the problem is how many actors are working with convictions provide some facts on the percentage of them with convictions compared to say plasterers, if there is a massive discrepency you have a point, if not shut your biased opinion

'If the popualtion is growing why not weed a few out, might make a change, only for a few years to see if thing do alter?'
yup I agree let's kill off the thick and socially inept, we could do without them in the gene pool

Maybe spelling, punctuation and grammar should determine who survives.
Only kidding.
