Danny for basic web use then ANY digital camera, webcam or even mobile phone should be more than enough - even the cheapest camera will be able to do pics in 640 x 480 which is more than big enough for ebay use.

My suggestions.

1) Dont buy a camera that takes AA batteries, even rechargable.

The batteries run down too quickly and need recharging.

Buy one with Lithium Ion batteries (slightly more expensive but
better in the long run)

2) There are two types of zoom, Digital and Optical.

Digital is the cheap end, and all it does is enlarge the area being
zoomed in, so you lose quality.

Optical (where the lens actually zooms in and out) is better because
as you zoom in you get closer, but keep the same quality.

This is true for all digital cameras, not just your particular request.

Surely Lithium ion batteries come in AA size.
