Google re-designing the world?

Post by tas »

Can anybody see the big mistake google have made on this map?:

answers on a post card please.....
but if you can't see anything wrong the answer is below.....

the netherlands and belgium are the wrong way round, the netherlands always used to be above belgium when looking at a map.

oops! overall though, it's a rather cool gizmo...

type in your post code/address. click the 'from here' link in the pop-up.

type in the destination post code/address and a detailed set of directions appear on the right of your screen, with the route highlighted.

click on any of the stages to get a close up of that particular location.

not sure of it's practical worth (the first direction it gives for my chosen journey is an illegal right-turn) but nifty, nonetheless.

The RAC Route Planner offers a similar function.

Offers distance between locations, suggested route, traffic
black spots etc.

You can also zoom right down to the detailed road level
which is great.

I have had bad experiences with the RAC route planner, I often use it when going to shoots but virtually everytime I use it there are roads and/or instructions missing. I have got lost on several occasions after using the rac, saying that I still use it because it is free and I don't have sat nav in the car.
