England playing the best cricket by a country mile have still left the door ajar so anythings possible

If Simon Jones doesn't play & Mc Grath does I'd back Australia to win the last

Flintoff aside he's the one that has consistently had the Aussie batsmen mesmerised with his reverse swing

As for Giles being the King of Spain, very apt because he certainly isn't the king of spin like Phil Tufnell was ;-)

cheers

Sorry, Spunkie, but no one cares about English cricket. We're much more interested in the Corfu cricket league.

England have played the best cricket by far and lets be honest if it wasn't for the rain and loss of time because of that (at Old Trafford) then England would be sitting with a 3-1 lead and the Ashes would already be lost for Australia.

England deserve to be 3-1 up but they are not so onto The Oval and it's still game on.

I agree if McGrath plays (and is fit-he clearly wasn't match fit at Old Trafford) then he could be the key. He is the best player on display on both sides in my opinion.

As for your door left ajar quote then that has been the case. I believe it's a combination of the Aussies grit but probably more the fact that England lack a Test class spinner. With one of those we would have won the last 3 Tests easily.

I personally don't think Brett Lee is a great fast bowler. However you have to admire him. He runs in and gives it everything he's got every single time he bowls.

And rightly so---it was stonking stuff to watch. Just getting my own back on Spunkie's arrogant remarks re our football.

Don't think the fifth test will be for the fainthearted, though.

Certainly parts of the media seem to think so - BBC, various broadsheets etc. How very gentrified it all seems.

But as they say in football: it's still only August, very much early days.

Fantastic match...edge of the seat stuff....but would we have won if katich hadn't been given out to that ball which was clearly nowhere near out.

personally I think Shane Warne has been the player of the series, almost as if he's trying to win things all by himself and nearly succeeding. I think if he'd been captain and not Ponting (who seems to have lost the plot somewhat) this series may have been different

Warne is still a top quality bowler but I agree with Atherton in that he isn't as good as he was. He doesn't turn it as much nor does he have the variety. He can't bowl a wrong un because of his shoulder, the flipper has gone because of his finger injury and they were big weapons in his armoury.

Warne does have a great cricket brain and he thinks alot of his batsmen out by setting traps for them and I agree he would have been a great Captain.

I would presume that he's been overlooked for the Captaincy because of his off the field activities which if the case is a shame but would go to show that it's not only the "Blazer Brigade" who run sports in England but also abroad.
