Raising The Retirment Age

Post by planeterotica »

It looks like they are thinking of raising the retirement age to 67 how can this goverment call itself a labour goverment they should be looking to lower the age not increase it, Of course civil servants can still retire at 60 on an index link pension.

Funy though we can just send ?100,0000 million to Pakistan innit. Why can't that be invested here in our people that have no pensions or very small ones. I find it all very strange. Pensions crisis my arse ! Succession of bent governments - bingo !

I agree Dave, because of the age i am now it probably wont affect me but i still have strong feelings about this, in the 21st century the retirement age should be going down not up, this goverment and previous ones are never slow in telling us how good they are at managing the economy, this proves just what a load of tossers they really are and i hope that any goverment who tries to raise the age of retirement feels the backlash from the younger voters and older ones at the ballot box.

I am sooo anoyed.....how dare they . Especially after just agreeing civil servants can still retire at 60. They threaten to strike if they are brought in line with the rest of us ....government gives in. What can we do?????

A point a lot of you won't agree with is I can't believe we have only just had a general election. We have still got nearly a full term left of them....bloody nightmare.

Well they lost the 90 day vote and no doubt the oppossition parties can smell blood on this one i suspect that a lot of the Labour backbenchers will not be happy with this (only because they are worried about their jobs come the next election) they couldn care a shite really so it may not happen. Oh and by the way i am 55+.

Raise it to 93. A nice age.

With a life expectancy of 167, I'll have plenty of time to do what I like.

Fair comment, and fair play to you- we could learn a thing or two off you lot.

The issue is being discussed on Question Time just now, with King of Twats Derek Laud, and, in all seriousness, I agree with you lot. Yes, Blair, Brown et al may be under 55 and have the means to retire now, should they choose. It's a pity they are deluded enough to think that everybody else is in the same boat.

New Labour seems to be pandering to Middle England- and I didn't vote for them in the first instance. But, I ask- who is the better alternative at present?

Do we need another inadequate party in power? Or a better leader? Or what?

I do care and am passionate about a lot of issues- there's too much apathy in my generation.
