Not everyone's cup of tea but I think they are the bollocks, if nothing else they put a smile on your face! Perusing the booklet of my newly acquired copy of "One Way Ticket To Hell...And Back" it would appear they are master lyricists too. Not since Roger Waters put pen to paper have I read such brilliant words!! Check this out;
"It was a cigarette break and I was desperate
I saw her pushing that wheelbarrow
She said have you got a match, I said yes
My cock and Farmer Giles' prizewinning marrow"
Brilliant!! How about this one for anybody who has ever indulged in the old "Instant Arsehole Powder";
"Several massive choking lines of glorious gack
I bought a one way ticket to hell...and back"
Best to get off at the next stop! For anyone whose hair isn't as luxuriant as it once was the following is fucking classic;
"From what I have been reading
His scalp needs kneading
To stimulate each follicle
And reverse this diabolical
Condition that's afflicted he
For years and has cruelly
Repulsed each potential mate
And left him with a balding pate"
Fabulous! There's even something here for Brit-Porn lovers;
"You're potty-mouthed and brassy
Anything but classy"
Fucking great stuff! Thank God for The Darkness!

Re: The Darkness
I was a tentative fan and then went of them due to radio and festival overkill.
However, reviews I've read have been positive, so you never know..... this album might be good fun, like their previous.
Have The Darkness proved they have a career in music after all?

Re: The Darkness
Literally the most overrated band in the last decade.
I've not liked one of their songs and I don't really find them too amusing either.
LOL DONT LET THE BELLS END! IT'S FUNNY COS IT'S LIKE BELL-END, YEAH? BUT IT ISN'T!

I hate Kasabian.

It is and I like that term, "Good fun" as that is exactly what they are, great foot-tapping rock'n'roll with piss-yourself funny lyrics. The absolute antithesis of po-faced gloomsters such as Radiohead.
The "Difficult Second Album Syndrome" was always going to amplified by ten (Or should that be...Eleven!) for them after the huge success of their debut but I reckon they've shown balls of steel by not playing it remotely safe and including tracks with titles such as "Knockers" and "Dinner Lady Arms" on such a hugely important record for them.

Thank heavens for that. I wouldn't want these two bands turning into each other as they're both supremely capable at what they do already to these ears.
Mind you, as straightforward guitar rock albums go, The Bends is still a blinder. One way ticket to Oxford, Justin?
