Eagle comic

Did anyone read The Eagle as a boy?
Either first time round or upon its revival in the early 80's?
I'm feeling all nostalgic for it because I found a Doomlord graphic novel in Forbidden Planet the other day.

Great stuff -

Dan Dare - Pilot Of The Future, Tower King, Goalkeeper, The Collector, Manix, Saddle Tramp, Joe Soap, Sgt. Streetwise......

And the great thing about it was it was so violent!!!

Roy Of The Rovers was great too.

And those little Commando comics....
