Anybody got an opinion on this.
As a non smoker myself then I wasn't particularly bothered about smoking before as I sought of expected people to smoke if I went in to pubs or the bookies. My attitude was always if I didn't like it then don't go in there.
However it will be nice in the future to have a smoke free environment and I shan't be complaining at the new law.
No doubt the smokers will disagree!!!!!!!

The pendulum has swung I feel Eduado.
Used to be the case as you say that non smokers either tolerated things or didn't go to certain places.
Now smokers will have to tolerate this law or not go to certain places to smoke!
On the whole I think this is one of the very few good things this bastard 'Labour' government has introduced. Ideally, I don't see why private members clubs should have to abide by it, but can see how this would be unworkable.
It gets my support too!
On the old health argument, can we now envisage a ban on kebab houses, spitting in street, McDonalds and Pot Noodels?

Re: Total Smoking Ban
I'm a non-smoker, but I am bothered. I'm bothered about what comes next, and what comes after that. Though I fully accept the health benefits of a non-smoking lifestyle I don?t what to be told what I can and can?t do that by condescending middleclass fuckers. Now they have been successful on this issue they won't stop, they will look round (with reference to their twatish left of centre philosophy) for the next thing they want to stop you doing. Porn lovers should be aware that there are those of a Guardian reading disposition who take the view that porn is harmful and 'demeaning' to 'wimmin' and there is nothing they would like better than to stop you accessing it.
If the trend for ever tighter rules and regulations, plus outright bans, continues (and it will) in future there will be very little left that you can do of your own free will. Ours will be a very grey (or maybe beige) society that will stagnate - as anything spontaneous or radical will be seen as dangerous - 'Hey, you can't do or say that, people might get hurt or God forbid, offended!' And of course once society and civilisation has stagnated it will inevitably start to decline.

Re: Total Smoking Ban,inc an Air ban.
The bad news is..MP'S are about to discuss the rationing of the air intake we receive daily. We are to be fitted with bags with a certain amount of air,and charged!.
Something to do with gas expelled into the atmosphere and melting the ice cap.
Sex is to be 'rationed',and yes, your home WILL will a inspected for anything that doesn't conform to Westminster's regulations, part 3,chapter 13,Section 32,para 467.The bill will be passed without any objection.
Big Brother (& not that one) will re-invent itself from this day forth.

Fantastic. My Golf Club voted in a ban a few weeks back.
Now I can go out for a pint and not come back stinking of nicotine.
Smoking fucked my Father's health and I don't want it to mess with mine as a non-smoker.

Re: Total Smoking Ban
Absolutely spot-on Officer.
I don't smoke and despise smoking, and will be very greatful for not going out and returning smelling like a chainy... however, the thought of a bunch of bourgeois condescending hypocrites pontificating in Parliament about what we should do and were we should be allowed to do is even more annoying than stinking like Shane McGowan after a night in the pub. What will they decide we can or cannot do next? Things are not going to get better and this is just the tip of the iceberg, yet most citizens are too neutered now to notice let alone care.
Having an independent mind is going to cause me a lot of heartache in the wonderful future, and I really really pity the children of today.

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?
