Got fed up with Premiere's foibles, never got on with Pinnacle so now use Vegas and as Brother Blue says stable and powerful.

While I am aware of the "horses for courses" factor in making these choices I would make the following observations, having edited 150 or so major productions on every system digital or otherwise to come down the pike in the last 15 years.
Adobe premiere is OK ish if you like computers Avid DV or HD is more straightforward and FCP is the best amateur system.
All DV/firewire based systems are problematic but Mac beats PC for stability and functionality.
The best systems for editing are Avid Media Composer and Lightworks but probably beyond the budget for most porn producers.
Pinnacle Sonic Speed Razor et al are for people with more time than money so it depends how much time and how many productions you expect to handle,

FCP an amateur system? LOL. Guess you've never heard of Walter Murch either.

I have also used FCP for broadcast work in the past year for BBC ITV 1, Chs 4 and Five. Its not merely my opinion regarding the problems of firewire particularly with regard to frame accurate playouts the manufactureres are aware of the problems and professional suites use Time Code Controllers and other hardware apart from a simple firewire port . If in doubt visit the next NAB exhibition and ask them yourself. Or try the various Avid and FCP user groups on the web.
I have heard of Walter Murch and know that the FCP system that he used on Cold Mountain was not firewire based and his macs were loaded with video cards and sync controllers .He also had an 11 man team of technical support from Apple on site while he was editing apart from the team of assistants that are usually part of a feature crew. None of which comes in the standard FCP bundle
The BBC recently set up a Final Cut Pro facility in house also thinking it was "proffessional" and are somewhat puzzled at Apple's description of the new version of FCP, "Final Cut Extreme" as the proffessional version of their popular software package.
