It will help but go and buy a decent firewall for full protection and use it WITH the Microsoft firewall activated for solid protection.

I have Preventon Personal Firewall 2 plus Windows XP firewall both working and don't have problems. Also make sure your Norton is up to date and the Dialers prevention box is ticked

How many viruses for Windows out there? I heard a figure of 114,000 known viruses for PCs, running at something like 850 new threats per month.

If you have Broadband, Why would you have your normal modem plugged in ?

A dialler NEEDS a normal phone connection not a broadband line, unlug your phoneline but you dont need to your broadband connection ;)

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

There are plenty of decent free firewalls you can use on any PC and download from places like www.download.com. Try Zone Alarm (free version) or little less resource intensive, Sygate Personal Firewall. Both have free versions that work ok.
