Speeding Fines

I got caught on one of those mobile cameras the other week and allowing for the 10% error i was doing 5mph over the limit in a 40mph zone where they have just moved the goalpost by about 300 yards to catch more motorist and rake in more money for MR G. BROWN anyway the 28 days is nearly up where i can opt for the ?60.00 fine which is very kind of them or after this period it rises to ?100.00 either way you get three points on your brief or of course you can argue in court with the stoney faced magistrates where you are always guilty unless you can prove otherwise, anyway i opted for the ?60.00 job but instead of posting it i dropped into their office and asked to see the photo and after a few mins this girl produced it which did show my car and registration and the speed, date and time but the driver was unreckonisable but being an honest person i agreed to pay the fine where i had to ring another bell to summons a lady from the fines dept she asked me how i would like to pay and i replied is there any discount for cash where her face screwed into a ball and she promtly reminded me i could go to court if i wasnt happy paying the ?60.00, anyway i doshed out the cash and handed over me brief to get the bonus points on it when the bitch noticed that my signature on the form didnt match the one on my brief which is an old one not the photo type, with this she dashed off to her supervisor seeking advice she returned and asked me to give another sample of my signature and after four attemps i managed to do one that looked something like the one on my brief she then run back upstairs with my brief and promtly returned with it and the three endorsements nicely printed in her own handwriting with a ballpoint pen, so if you ever get done for speeding just send the money off in the post by cheque its the easiest option!thumbsdown!

Did you not get the option of going on a day course for your speeding? I think you don't have to pay the fine but still get the points.

As far as I know you only get this offer if 10% or less over the limit i.e 33mph or less less on 30 zone, 44mph or less in a 40 zone.

I got the "60 quid offer" for doing 60mph in a 50 limit , by my reckoning that's more than 10% over . Be aware if you get stopped by a car with a number plate recognition camera or whatever they like to call them , you should argue , as they aren't suppose to use these in vehicles . JJ .

What the fuck is the world coming to?? A fucking fine or a lecture for straying 3mph over a bloody speed limit??? That people believe this propaganda is disturbing, the fact that many fools have been conned into thinking it's fair and proper to behave in this totalitarian way is downright frightening - most people's priorities are totally fucked.

The rule used to be 10% plus 2mph over the limit, i.e. in 40 limit you have to be going over 46mph before prosecution. However some years ago some pressure group threatened ACPO with a judicial review saying the rule was unlawful. Now you may or may not be prosecuted for a few mph over the limit.
