Moore,Caine and Connery

Post by Lizard »

Wadoo we think? 2 of them have knighthoods, they have all never stopped working, yet in my humble opinion they are all total crap! how come the likes of these get awards etc, and the likes of Finney, Courtney et al, dont.
Something stinks and it,s not my feet.
Also went to see world trade centre........sad event! shit film, dont bother, know wonder half the world hates Americans.

Isn't Tom Courtney a knight? I believe Albert Finney was offered a knighthood but turned it down as he doesn't hold with them.

Of the three, Caine has been the most useful on screen all told. Though it's a shame his credible performances (Sleuth, for instance) get overshadowed by his obvious paycheck work and the many stinkers he's made (The Swarm, The Island etc).

Connery was pretty good as Bond but is largely so-so outside of it.

Sir Rog? I think he got his title more for his impressive work as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 1991 than for his acting. He'd probably be the first to admit he got it cushy with Bond too. So fair play to him then.

I recall an interview with Michael Caine who said to live a very high standard of living you must make a very low standard of film!

Being honest Funeral in Berlin, The Ipcress File and especially Get Carter are all superb films. Get carter is a belter.

Roger Moore doesn't take himself seriously but his work for Unicef is fantastic.

Connery gets on my tits. He was excellent as Bond but his pro Scottish Independence lark is a real sham, he only comes to Scotland to fish or play golf and lives in tax exile for the other 50 odd weeks of the year. Hypocrite or what?

I agree with Arginald - Connery is a hypocrite with his Scottish Independence. Quite happy to make his name playing a British sceret agent, in England, quite happy to accept a British knighthood and happy enough to live a life of luxury (anywhere but Scotland) on the back of a British passport.

Well all three have entertained me well over the years so I'll leave you to your rants. No matter what you think of their acting ability, they have that rarest of thing that even some better actors lack...Screen presence.
