Wouldn'y be the first time in the history of the underground that a name has been changed. Actually, 'Banglatown' has a certain ring to it dont you think? Bit like renaming Leicester Sq as 'Chinatown'.

"He said the area's tourist trade was being affected because, while people had heard of Brick Lane and its reputation for curry restaurants, they could not find it on a Tube map. "
In that case, can I propose renaming Lewisham Train Station "Kebab Street" and while we're at it New Cross can be "Jerk Chicken Road" and Plumstead "GimmeYourWallet Street" - because that's what I associate those areas with.

I dont know i used to work for a fruit importer who was based in Spitalfields and had offices in Commercial street back in the 1970s called Louis Reece, Brick Lane starts on the other side of Commercial street opposite the old Spitalfields market we used to drink in the Jack the Ripper pub on the corner of Brick Lane, i also used to work in the old Covent Garden market for the same firm before it moved to Nine Elms, they were good times !love!
