Actually it was a court case involving HMR&C and SpearmintRhino
HMR&C argued that the club should pay VAT on the amount the girls earned. The club argued that the girls were self-employed and that, should any of them be registered for VAT, that HMR&C should ask them for the money.
Clubs pay VAT on the house fees and commissions they take off the girls, but suggested it wasn't their job to pay VAT on the money the girl's took home.
It was an appeal hearing and the club won... so no, strippers are not suddenly going to charge you VAT for your lapdance!

No, the end result is that the club continues to pay VAT on their income as before and don't have to pay VAT on the money the girls take home... as it always has been.
