Simple principle: never believe the military. Not ours, nor anyone else's.

You need to learn something before you rant.

First, Iran/Persia has always been tolerant of multiple religions. To this day, there are Christian, Jewish and other religious communities in Iran that enjoy the protection of the state. Don't believe the simplistic nonsense you read about Iran.

Second, when you say "never known freedom" - Iran was a democracy until a British/American consortium overthrew it to replace it with the pro-Western dictatorship of the Shah. The Shah was utterly evil, at least as bad as Saddam, but was fully supported by Britain and America because he gave them access to oil. The Iranian revolution of 1979 overthrew him.

Iranians are deeply distrustful of Britain and America for good reason. We've been preventing them from having freedom since we first developed our taste for oil. It's laughable to think they are less civilised than we are - history says the opposite.

Let's not get into another boring rant about this. Iran's human rights record is pretty bad as we all know - that's irrelevant to the point I'm making. You'll also know that Iran would would a modern democracy if a jointly funded British/US coup hadn't been planned (Winston Churchill, that denizen of freedom, was involved in that one).

Ahmadinajad's a rightwing nutter. We can thank the Bush administration for helping turn back the clock in Iran. Just when liberals were gaining the upper hand, Bush threatens Iran and nationalist nutters win instead. But that was probably the neocon plan I'd guess.

Who said it did? You're off on a tangent... come in boat number 7.
