Don't know if anyone saw this the other night, a film about Scott Walker. Good, informative stuff. Not sure if I'd like the music he's been creating in the last ten or more years, but he is at least trying new things. Much of the stuff that's big in this country is part of a ten-year cycle or reinventing or reimagining stuff from the sixties.
One thing hasn't changed, though: he still has one of the greatest voices in music.

Re: Imagine
I thought the programme was excellent and Scott Walker is the 'real deal' and 'walking it like he talks it'. As the French music journalist JD Beauvallet pointed out there are any number of musicians who posture and make a lot of noise about being individual, but here's someone who delivers on the claim and isn't really interested in the 'story' or 'legend' of Scott Walker. For him the music is first and foremost.
The later stuff is a bit too abstract and cerebral for my taste. I think the programme did a fair job of explaining where he's coming from musically and I respect that and it's interesting but it's not something i'd choose to listen to.

Scott Walker is a very talented person his earlier stuff was the best and he could sell a lot more albumns if he turned out more of the same but his later stuff will appeal to a very limited audience !sad!

Hey!!
Actually missed this the other night. Really wanted to see it as well. Have read that he once refered to himself as "The Orsen welles of the music industry" I think this is a very apt way of describing a musical genius who people are not prepared to take a risk on any more. A truelly fascinating man.
Cheers

Yes, but record sales isn't high on his list of priorities.
