The Likely lads

Post by BeestonBoy »

Hello folks

I live in a really bad area for recieving "Free view" and as a result im unable to get ITV3. Now this never usually bothers me to much. I try to live as much of a full life as I can with out "Tales of the unexpected" and "Rumpole of the Bailey"

But tonight and last night I have got to be honest I have been truelly gutted that I can not recieve it because "The likely lads" the movie has been on. It is the only one of the 70s sit coms that worked as a film and is one of my all time favorite films. Some really really great moments in it.

Dont suppose any one watched it? Its not just me is it? I mean it is a really funny film.

Cheers

BB

Only caught fifteen minutes of this, but it really was bad...assume Clement/LaFrenais had less of a hand in the writing. Sound was a bit odd too, Bob & Terry sounded half an octave higher, like they were both wearing tight underpants...helped the film's lame comedy quota no end!

"Whatever happened to the Likely Lads" is one of the finest pieces of television ever written. The shows capture the sadness of growing up and losing the promise of youth beautifully, and yet manage to be funny with it.

When I saw them as a kid I thought they were just comedy shows, but now I have reached Bob and Terry's time of life, I can see what the writers were getting at. I think I can also appreciate Thelma's rather stern charm a bit better too.
