Gangs of lads

Post by BeestonBoy »

Hey

This has been on my mind for a long time now,so im going to have to ask you good folks if its just me.

Im 29 years old. I have a shaved head,im 6 foot tall (In my heels) im 16 stone and quite broad across the shoulders. Im actually as soft as poodle shite, but at a glance I have been informed I look quiet handy.

So given this, why do gangs of "chav" lads hanging around out side my local CO-OP and such make me so edgy? I hung around in gangs as a teen and we were all little fuckers if the truth be told, with drink drugs and the ocansional bit of vandalism. But we never ever bothered any one and on the whole kept out of trouble. It was usually just hanging around the park with an"'enry" and our body weight in cheap cider.

So did the 20 some things of the early ninties look upon us as I look at these kids now? Is this just another phase of my argrophobia? Or have teen lads become really scary? Any thoughts?

Peace and love

I think its scarier news reports. We constantly get bombarded with "youth, 15 stabs so and so to death for ?1.89" kind of stories. I keep hoping this flood will be the great chav apocalyse but...........anyway a couple of clingfilm wraps of extra hot curry powder in the pocket always adds a bit of bravery. You only have to get your fingers on their eyes and it hurts like a twunt.

I think you'll find you did bother someone but didn't know it.

Unfortunately it is only when you get older that you realise a lot of the crap you get up to as a kid causes a lot of crap to others.

The gangs you see now will develop the same opinion as you when they get to your age when the next generation is doing the same as them.

Unfortunately its a cycle but the most worrying thing for me is that each cycle brings a new level of degenerate.

Worse than that the numbers of degenerates is increasing, mostly because Parental responsibility is seriously lacking but also because as a society we are allowing things to happen and or tolerating it.

Kids being 'Kids' should no longer be an excuse but for many it is.

Beeston boy,

I read your thread with interest and...

I would say it is a symptom of your agrophobia mixed with anxiety which stems from the scaremongering media of the modern age.

Plus as you get older you get more wary to the dangers that can befall you,as for me i'm the same ,although my edginess stems from my childhood (as i was a evil dark skinned person in a small town) but also the way i look (as yourself i'm larger than yourself and lots of people are either intimidated by me or small guys try to smash my face in whilst drunk)

I would recommend self defence of some kind as it builds confidence and also help with the agrophobia!

hope this helps and good luck ! as your not the only one.

Beeston, you sound well dodgy glad I don't bump into you on a dark night especially if you are fuelled up on the White Lighting.

Truth is martial arts if you do it for years will teach you to avoid the circumstance not feel confident in it. Awareness is the key; you are right to feel fear and try to avoid target areas. I go to MMA nights and despite the crowd being filled with fighters there is not much trouble. It?s like a Mexican stand off everywhere. Someone sitting in your seat is a bit of fun though, Bev took me to the wrong row at the last event and I was convinced she had it right as it was VIP and our tickets seemed to correspond to the seat. Anyway some steroid freak asked me to move in a horrible tone. Dilemma comes in, back down in the crowd of MMA and they would rip the piss for the rest of the night.
So standing up to growl at the thug, some mates on the stage area sees me or Bev's Tits and call us down to the stage, thug backs off realising I am obviously in with the boys. Standing up on the cage and while explaining that we had gone to the wrong area was great, pointing at the thug made him crawl under the seat.

Be aware be safe

HI Beestie

Alexie Sayle had a sketch which suggested that by wearing a woolen hat and shouting "Hello lads my names Norman!" at the top of your voice as you approach will scare most yobs away as they are more scared of nutters than you are of them.
If they get close Stephen Fry reccomends cooing "Oh boys you are strong and have such lovely eyes." which will trigger the homophobic response even if some of them are interested chances are they won't want their mates to know and will steer well clear.

Hope that helps.

Or, just drive around in an armour plated hummer with a flame thrower, never go out, avoid all eye contact with everything, dont speak, and never call anyone 'chap' or offer them a pie.
Fuck em Beeston, just get on with life, someone wants to harm you for no reason they will, act on your instincts, like Phil says-be as aware as you can.
And no your not paranoid, this country can be a shit place.

Hey y'all

Only just got chance to sit down and read your replies.

Some real interesting stuff said in them. Some things to really take on board and think about.

Thankyou to every one who took the time to read my paranoid ramblings

Cheers folks

I have to agree with Lizard on this and say you have to get on with your life mate.

This is going to sound worse than it is (I'm not a nutter, honest), but when I'm on my meds I'm a very even tempered person and like you, I don't like getting in situations like you explained above.
Where I live now, you rarely find yourself in that situation anyway.

When I still lived in East London I didn't take my meds because I knew what the area was like. It meant I sometimes ended up in all types of shit because I had no fear (and no bloody sense either) and was very aggressive, and being my size, that wasn?t a good combination.

I know some of these kids are little tossers who hang around in a lot of groups want you to be scared, but a lot of them are just kids who want to hang out with their mates (something we all did when we were younger).

Just walk past with your head up high mate, because if any trouble makers sense you?re worried, it empowers them.
That?s when the fireworks start.

All the best mate
