This laptop I use for purely for internet browsing is falling apart.
I have sourced another - nothing fancy HP 6100 P3 1GHz (could turn out to be Celeron) and I can make 256M ram by removing from this one.
I have used Firefox as primary browser for last couple of years, only using IE6 when a site doesn't work with Firefox.
However Firefox 2 seems slower than 1.5.x. Has anyone else noticed this?
As I have to load 'new' laptop from scratch is this the time to consider Opera, or any other browsers?
I could load up WinXP pro but may well stick with Win98se with all updates plus of course Antivirus, Firewall, Adaware and Spybot as I've only had one serious virus/spyware issue in last 18 months while mates with XP seem to get hit regularly.
No doubt Win98 will boot faster on P3 too.
