IS it me or am I finding the latest series of the Soptrano's
This has to be the darkest series by far and i dont know if i have enjoyed it. Is it like mr Eliot once said the world ends not with a bang but in a whimper.
I have been a Sopranos fance since day 1 and find it riveting the study of relationships and the imagery have been thoroughly excellent and the acting has never faltered. But as the world around Tony is falling is the last and final dose of Soprano's falling too?

I would love to see Meadow as Boss...she is a whole mix of her family shows stenght and conviction of her mother with the passion of the father the meekness of her brother but also the intelect of an educated person. She has the power of uniting and strenght to make decisions. Thats just me though... found it laughable when Tony commented on his sons failure to be even able to kill himself! He couldnt even manage that ...

I missed that one on Sunday although I will watch it tonight. That's the one where he ties a brick to his foot and jumps in the pool?
Apologies for lowering the tone but as for Meadow then I'd just love to do her.

Why ANYONE with a microgramme of moral fibre and social responsibility
would watch this is totally beyond me- it's typical of a debased society
that pays lip-service to the abhorrence of criminality and violence while
simultaneously glorifying it.

Lol Mr JJ...i thought with your intelect and insight and surely interest of the Latin you may have seen past the minor violence that is shown. It is never glorified and always after it is happened there is remorse - that is a fact (certainly on Tony Soprano's side) there is never a glorified violent plot.
Its a study of relationships which works amazingly well. Its sugar coated in a marzipan of Italian Mafiaso but anyone can see through that. Personally i think its a masterpeice the meatphoric overtones worked wonderfully and underline the relationships we all have in life.
The violence makes 1 percent of the story line I would say there ahs only been a handful of peo[ple that have died. I am judging by your response that you have never really watched it because your statement just doesnt add up as i have metioned the violence really does make up 1% of the story.. there are more deaths in the 9 oclock news and indeed probably Home Away - but thats not a classic im afraid.

No, that's the Big Lie that gets this sort of crap commisioned in the first
place- 'oh, we are only pointing out the evils inherent in society, and the
fact that we show graphic sadistic violence without apparent consequences
is merely artistic licence.'.
Bollocks: in large part, it's simple wish-fulfilment. these people need
therapy, not indulgence.

JJ
Have you watched it or a whole series?
- totally serious question.
It does not glorifyu anything. Violence is not the subject. Its a look at relationships and people under the umbrella of a mob firm.
There are no killings for the sake of audience numbers. Im not going into the artistic babble but looking at it as a mere observation - at the very least of how certain people interact. I am positive there will be one set of relationship(s) that any and everyone can relate to. It also does act somewhat as a counsel it certainly showed me one thing that some people are void of love / hapiness no matter what extent of kindness you bestow upon them. - The realtionship of mother and son. In the first series i think there was maybe about 5 killings ...i can be corrected. Its certainly no gruesome torture film. The mafia exists. Killings exist. Relationships between people withhin a murderous family exist. The parody of the Sapranos works.

You'll have to learn how to reply to a particular post within a thread : -)
As to the rest, we'll just have to agree to disagree- I would prefer it if
the media in general enhanced life, rather than emphasised its all-too-obvious
cheapness. But in the end I suppose it's a matter of [lack of?] taste.
Mrs JJ is a big fan thereof [and has every episode on her PVR] and we have
had endless 'discussions' about its moral validity.....
