All the component parts are there----just a case of getting them to work together. Not sure if Maclaren is the man for the job. You need someone inspirational. If there is a major fault, it tends to be a lack of passion.

I'd replace 'passion' with 'possession' tonight - and the Russians had it all in the second half.

Michael Owen in his prime was such a killer-scorer, however the team around him have generally under-performed.

If anyone could inspire, get the team working, use a blend of experience and youth, have the balls to pick the best team of 11 (not the best 11 individuals) and generally be his own man, for me; Bobby Robson, even in his advanced years.

Didn't see the England game, so can't comment on that, Sam. But I feel that some of your sportsmen do lack passion which is why when a Gascoigne or a Flintoff comes along they tend to be treated like gods.
