PS3 vs XBOX 360

Which do you rate, PS3 or XBOX 360?

I just bought my daughter an Xbox 360 for Chrimbo and even though it has ten times more games available, I still feel that my PS3 pisses on it from a great height in quality.

Also the ease with downloading games & demos, surfing the net and playing online is fantastic (and totally free, not like Xbox live)

Good point Blue. I enjoy the XBox 360 but I've had plenty of gripes. Namely with the HDMI connection not being available before The Elite version and the fact you have to buy a seperate HD player...Just smells like an obvious ploy to rinse you out of your digits.

I'm too deep in X Box to consider the PS3 at this stage. my place looks like a games arcade with this, the old X Box and PS2 consoles. I'm lucky if I get time to play it these days mind.

I've not went next-gen yet, waiting to make my decision.

The PS3 may seem expensive in comparison to the 360, but it has everything on board; if you buy all the peripherals to bring the 360 up to PS3 spec, it costs MORE. I'm still waiting to see if there will be two new movie formats: blu-ray or HD-DVD, or if there will be one definitive 'winner'.

Nintendo always thinks out-of-the-box, and always has it's own killer in-house titles, the Marios, Zeldas, Metroids, F-Zeros et al.......... but at the minute, although interesting, it seems to be an adult novelty toy- it has the potential to evolve though. It does have amazing retro downloads.

I was sooooooo close to getting a PS3 with a big flat-screen HD Bravia telly a while back, held back- just!!!

This next-gen war will be a closer battle than the previous generation- the PS3 price will be prohibitive to a lot of parents.

Once the developers get more games out for it, PS3 would probably be my choice- the downloadable PS1 back-catalogue also has so many hidden gems- and there will be inevitable price-drops, from Bravias through to PS3s.

The PS3 is a heap of over priced shit with crappy games that are nothing but constant remakes or sequels.
That being said I won`t buy another product with microsoft on it. My 360 died due to overheating basically because they were rushed out to beat the ps3.

My 360 has been knackered for a year, it was six months old when it died and I got sick of retards from the third world telling me it was my power supply. Or that if I want it fixed I should call UPS and pay postage. It`s their fuckup and I should pay for it?

Xbox 360 is by far the best imho, PS3 is a bit of a shambles and as per usual Sony treats European Customers as 2nd class citizens.
The choice of PS3 games is really poor compared to Xbox360, plus a lot of them seem very buggy and delayed plus the price of the console itself is prohibitive, I believe a cheaper version is coming out but will miss out a lot of features like compatability with PS1 games.
Add to the fact that the Xbox360 can be chipped to play backups and anything you want to add to the package can be done at a later date you don't have such a bit initial outlay, also has ALL the killer games: Halo 3 & Gears of War etc.
The Wii isn't even next gen it has a novel controller and that is it, but it seems to be doing the best (sales/profitwise) probably because is is more of a family console.

I've been a frequenter of 'the market' for a while, from the good ol' days of the ST and Amiga!!!

Thng is, down there in the East End, the boys think I'm an undercover 'tec!!! Had to convince them otherwise! !laugh!

Never played mine long enough to overheat but was told this problem was remedied with the X Box Elite.

HD 1080i on a 50 inch plasma rocks! HAAAAAARRRRDDD!!!!! And optical cable 6.1 surround sound is like...Awesome doood

The main problem with chipping the next gen consoles is that it blocks you from future firmware updates.

Sony releases firmware updates every few weeks and the PS3 is still evolving into much more than a games machine.
With new hardware available soon like the Play TV add on (turns your PS3 into a PVR like Sky+) the future looks bright for it's console.

Sony recently announced that the Playstation 4 may not be launched until at least 2017 due to the power of the PS3 and the fact it can be so easily updated.
