Jobs: Metallurgist (8yrs) Joinery/Student (3yrs).
Education: Basic A level (to date).
Aspirations: I prefer to take life as it comes rather than specific goals.
Newspaper: None in particular/various websites like bbc/guardian
Vote: None.
For: Education, understanding, common sense.
Against: Ignorance and hypocrisy.


I didn't think class mattered much these days.

Isn't class as much attitude as anything else, something that can disregard background, parentage, education etc? It's a pretty good tool for disregarding other people's background and parentage, no?

And why is it more often than not the middle classes who tell us class doesn't matter? Are they trying to imply there are no class issues anymore? Why would they do that then?

In this country the main friction seems to be between the middle and lower/underclass, with the attitude of the former towards the latter a little reminiscent - to these eyes anyway - of what Bill Bryson (I think) once described as the white, white-collar liberal attitude towards America's black community.

Yes, they want them to have good jobs, good homes, good education and good healthcare.

What they don't want is them living in the same street.
