how to arrange photo,s.ive got a folder of about 100 pics and therye all named randomly, for example ac-43 then the next one is c-012 and so on
can i name them holiday -1,holiday -2,thru to holiday -100 in one foul swoop or have i got to rename all 100 photos individually
if i can rename all of them without typing holiday 1,2,3,4 etc etc would really like to know how
thanks so much
does anybody know?
Re: does anybody know?
There should be a 're-name' option when you right click on the folder.Like that you overwrite the default setting.

Re: does anybody know?
i was hoping to somehow be able to type (holiday -1) on the first picture in folder and then for all the other 99 pictures to be labelled in order from the first pic for eg holiday -1, holiday -2, holiday -3 etc etc if that makes sense
i know i could go thru the slow painful proceess of typing holiday then the number on all 100 pics individually but was hoping i might be able to label the first pic and for the pc to arrange in order if such a thing can be done
thanks

Get a copy of Irfanview (it's free from all good download sites) or direct from http://www.irfanview.com/
This program is photoviewing software and it has a rename function - just select the folder that contains all your pictures then add all the files to the process and then set the name you want e.g. photo### starting from 1 will rename all the files photo001.jpg to photo100.jpg. Make sure you select save to this folder in the option box. Depending on size will take a couple of seconds.
Until you are confident of using the software do not select the "overwrite the existing file" option!
Hope this helps.

Re: does anybody know?
in my pictures folder lets say ive got 2 folders one named holiday and one named family for example and i take some pics with camera and the camera labels them c3-001 to c3-057 and i put those 57 pics in the holiday folder butthen if i take another say 12 pics to put in family album and the camera labels these c3-001 to c3-012 then the pc says do you want to replace pics because youve already got pics named as c3-001to c3012 in another folder
i think its the jpeg files what are in a folder that need to be renamed so they dont clash or how do you stop your camera naming a file with the same name as it has done already on another memory card for example
or if you have 2 different pics with same file name but in different folders should it not matter or does it
thanks so much
