Capello at Real is one of the few exceptions however last season's title was won on a 'head-to-head' technicality and yes, in the overwhelming majority of cases the rule holds true.

I would prefer it if they did it like in Italy and Russia to name but two, if the two at the top are equal on points at the end of the season, there is a play-off for the title at the national stadium. Celtic- Rangers, at Hampden about five years ago would have been a blast.
