Here is my recipe for blueberry ones:

Whisk two large eggs until they are fluffy. Add milk, flour, blueberries, 4 tbls vegetable oil, 2 tbls sugar, 2 tbls baking powder, 2 teaspoons vanilla and a pinch of salt. Whip until smooth.

I like pancakes with banana topped with maple syrup and hope to have that tomorrow.
I know Harmony will hate this.

Ashbourne Football

Post by colonel »

Shrove Tuesday is, of course, the day of the traditional football match in Ashbourne, Derbys. No time for tossing anything there!

The action starts at 12 noon as a ball is thrown into a crowd in the main street. Tbe 'goals' are two millwheels two miles apart: the teams the two sides of the town. Outsiders and tourists join a team at random- as no colours are worn, it is impossible to tell who is who anyway.

Play continues until 6pm. If the scores are level, play then continues until 10pm or the first goal scored- scored by hitting either wheel or marker with the ball- kicked, thrown or carried.

If scores are level, the game restarts at 12 noon on Ash Wednesday and carries on until 10pm- regardless- that night. Play ends then regardless.

The score? Usually nil-nil; occasionally a team will win one-nil with the goal scored on the Wednesday. Rarely, a game will be either over one-nil for 6 on Shrove Tuesday- or will get to two-nil for 10pm on the Wednesday.
