My electricity supplier is EDF energy who are a French firm and they have recently informed me that they have increased their prices as fom 18/01/08 they are also a big supplier in France where they charge less than half of what they do here in the U.K. for electricity can anyone explain this.
Ever since our utilities have been privatised the bills have increased well above inflation and this goverment who claim to be on top of inflation do nothing about it and we have a Watchdog with no teeth who just lets them increase their charges as and when they see fit, the whole idea of privatisation was to make the utilities more competitive when the oppossite has happened, i want my electricity at the same price EDF are charging their customers in France but it wont happen as this is Rip Off Britain !sad!

Nuclear Power is more costly in fact when you factor in the enormous cost of building a nuclear power plant coupled with their short lifespan and the decommisining cost, its more likely that we are subsidising the French coupled with overpricing and Gordon Brown loves higher energy prices because it dosnt directly affect the retail price index but brings him in even more revenue every time there is a price increase !sad!

Yes Warren but the Labour goverment hasnt taken the utilities back into public ownership either as they shouted about doing prior to winning the 1997 election, in fact they have done nothing to to stop them from ripping us off!sad!
