Beeston Boy
Would I be correct in thinking you are quoting Mr Poe to us---The Raven?

Christ on a bike Carac!!
Don't do that. I thought I had died!!
Yup,ya caught me ripping off a little bit of the Poe-mister i'm afraid!!
My dear sweet grey haired ol' Mammy has taken to buying me books off the market. They are usually pretty good factual accounts of the wars (if it happens to be your thing check out "Somme" by Malcom Brown published by The Imperial war museum) But a few weeks ago I happened to quite a line from "The tell tale heart" and she remembered this (as only Mothers do) and managed to pick up a couple of Poe books for me.
I'm just picking through them at the minute, but I find my self reading the Raven pretty much every night. Strange as I read it the voice in my head turns to that of James Earl Jones lol
Thankyou for the interest Carac....hope my answer has not bored the living Jesus outta ya chap!! If it has just say the word and I shall reply at length.....never more!!

You never bore, BB. The Raven is rather haunting, which is why I felt it necessary to ask.
Sorry if I gave you a fright. But think how much worse the scare would have been if Steve had asked.

Re: Beeston Boy
Ah, Edgar Allan Poe. Now you're talking. He's one of my favorite gothic writers.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I
pondered, weak and weary, Over many
a quaint and curious volume of
forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly
napping, suddenly there came a
tapping, As of someone gently rapping,
rapping at my chamber door. `Tis
the wind, I muttered, only this,
and nothing more.
Did you know we produced a movie that was loosely based on the Raven? In our case it was 'The Raver' of course. We shot it high on the moors, in rural churchyards and everything. Here, have a gander -
Remember Vincent Price as Roderick Usher and the fabulous Hazel Court as his cataleptic sister in 'Fall Of The House Of Usher'? And what about 'Masque Of The Red Death'? Now they were movies.
'...And the Red Death held indomitable dominion over all.'
