I laughed like a drain at this pillock's progress:

Re: What a sad bastard
it was never going to work, not without massive publicity, i knew nothing about it
I think what it might show is that if left to their own choices the public basically don't give a fuck, the 'i'm alright jack' mentality will prevail. This sort of thinking will pave the way for forcing people to use less via taxes or higher costs for goods such as carrier bags
this in turn will see the opposition say vote for us and we'll cut environmental tax, then the EU will impose cuts on the UK. The opposition will then say, vote for us and we'll fuck the EU off etc etc
nothing changes, i can see a bleak future.....god i'm depressing today

I never knew about it either. It was obviously badly organised.
It just proves that if the populace of a liberal, educated nation are either ignorant of the facts, or in denial, then what hope of less liberal, educated nations?

Re: What a sad bastard
well maybe it requires some draconian laws, China recently banned companies giving out free plastic bags and passed laws forcing manufacturers to produce ultra thin one. Maybe a small step, but lots of small steps can get you a long way

Well, as climate change has nothing to do with human use of energy, but rather by solar activity, it was a pointless idea anyway.

Re: What a sad bastard
Nothing more than an exercise in feeling good about yourself for doing your bit
Like changing your light bulbs
Celebrities buying forest plantations so they don't leave a carbon footprint
While at the same time people are buying home entertainment systems
complete with game consoles, big screen tvs,hi-fi & computer like never before which make the light bulb savings totally inconsequential
If you want people to use less you charge them more
Its the only way that works
Mind you if you let the developing world become as wasteful as we are it really wont matter regardless of whether you believe in global warming or not
