Band of Gypsys (note the spelling) was not Hendrix's "final band".
It was a rather short-lived project. Mitch Mitchell was back on drums in Hendrix's final months.

To me, the 4 1/2 shows that Hendrix played with the Band Of Gypsys were the best.
Buddy Miles rock solid drumming held it all together so much better that the flowery jazz-isms of Mitchell, although the scat vocals were a bit unfortunate.
You like a big fat snare that's bang on the button every time? Then go out and buy the "Live at the Fillmore East" cd. I know what I will be listening to this weekend.
