in a word NO!
I have 13 agents and only 1 of them gets me about 5% of my work. This isnt always the same for all girls but Id guess for most. I get most of my work from other models therefore cutting out the agent. Obviously producers and photographers encourage this as it saves them spending on agents commissions.
Websites like VVG seem to have a good thing going but that would entail running a studio and other facilities/services too.

Whilst I agree with Sandie, think about it for a moment - she would say that wouldnt she ? A little bit of competition never did anyone any harm . That said, clearly there becomes a "market saturation" point.

There are more than enough model agencies around (most of whom have all the same faces) to mean you will have to do something special to stand out from the crowd.
Saying that, if you can get a regular supply of GENUINE newcomers then I sure as hell will give you business as that would be something pretty unique.

Agents........don't need 'em never use them - (Well - that's a lie cos I have in the past and always had problems) why pay 20% to someone for making a phone call or two.......There are so many girls advertising themselves direct now do we really need any more agents?????

Agents - there are many compliants about agents.
Girls complain that agents don't get them work, that the agents only seem to concentrate on one or two girls.
Producers complain that some agents don't brief the girls properly (so a girl turns up not knowing that it is B/G for example), or that they book unreliable girls who let them down at the last minute. And they all have the same girls anyway.
There is space for a good agent who can get NEW girls, and whose girls always turn up and always do what is expected. Finding the new girls is the trick, and then keeping them once they start to get work and everyone else offers to put them on their lists.
I do have some ideas that might work for you. If you are serious drop me an email.

In my time in this industry I've seen agents come and go with the frequency of the models they try to represent.
Some get pissed off with unreliable girls, some get pissed off with the clients not paying and some just go into production and become their own best (and only in some cases) client!
What nobody has tried yet (to the best of my knowledge) is a different style of model management.
This involves ONLY getting NEW girls, and charging a 'one off' fee to the client (say ?60). Then after that the client books the girl direct with no further agency fees to pay.
This keeps the agent on his toes, because he needs to find new girls ALL the time, but also lets him off the hook when the girl eventually becomes unreliable. It also means he doesn't have to worry about the girl going behind his back to get work!
A GOOD agent could make a fortune this way, but unfortunatly most of them are too lazy to get up off their arses and actually EARN their money!
