What do you mean by hiccups, ace?

I've just got Nero Express 7 Essentials with a new DVDRW, that came free with the hardware but my Nero 6 was working fine upto a month ago.

I've found 99% of burning/copying mistakes are because you're burning at too high a speed (I always pick the lowest speed I can (x2)) or the lense inside your dvdwr is scratched/dusty.

Thanks Sam,
Encryption is fine and shrink is fine, but when I burn some discs, they either fail at 90% written, or playback on a DVD player is a bit iffy with stops a regular occurance!
I only copy at x2, but will give the laser a good right hander

I keep to Nero 6.6.0.14 for full compatibility with DVD shrink.

I run XP pro and have no problems.
I usually only burn a 4x DVD, 8x or 16x CD.

I suggest either you have a batch of poor quality blanks or your burner drive is dirty or on the way out.

I have only ever used Pioneer drives.
Based on the experience of colleagues NEC / Optiarc are reliable too but LG DVD burners not as good / reliable as their older CD ones and mixed results with less well known brands in budget systems.

Aye.

If the burn fails within the first 5% it's almost always the lense. Didn't know you were getting upto 90% most times. Sounds like a bad batch of disks as sparky says.
