O/T AVI files

Post by MMR »

I hope this question is ok to ask here.

I've downloaded some porno clip s that .AVI files and when I play them all I get is the sound. I've figured out that the problem seems to be something to do with a Codec.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to download something to fix this and make the clips play properly ?

Cheers.

I get this quite a lot too. Most of the time its only one file in a group of say 10 will be affected and its normally the first file sequentially.

In my case I don't its not a codec problem as if it was it would affect all the files but a ptoblem with the way it was encoded in the first place and I don't think you will be able to rectify it.

yes you can, go to microsoft.com and download all the latest windows media player codecs.

I had this trouble with files from file sharing programs.

It's because sometimes they are divx files, media player will lay them if you install the divx codecs so if the codecs from microsoft.com won't work, then go to divx.com and get their codecs and/or the free divx player.

Just in case it is a codec problem try updating at

Have had similar problems in the past which were fixed when I updated. You still get the occasional dud which always made me wonder wether divx.com covers all known codecs.

cheers

The simplest solution - get and install Nimo Codec Pack (and stop using Windows Media Player).
