Gody's humiliating U turn

Post by b217bravo »

After weeks of saying "There will be no U turn on the abolition of the 10% tax band" Cyclops Broon has been forced, by his rebel back benchers, into a humiliating U turn.
The climb down has nothing to do with restoring the satus quo for the low paid but all to do with the distinct possibility of electoral melt down in the local government elections on the 1st May.
I watched PMQ's & Broon just could not bring himself to admit that he got it
totally wrong "Never explain, Never complain" was never more clearly demonstrated.

Fucking right it should be a U-turn. Once again, the decent hard working person on a low wage gets shafted.
I expect a trouncing at the polls next year for Labour

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt

It's not a U-turn, mate.

Apart from that, your story is 100% true. Well, apart from the 100% which is bollocks, of course.

Might have known that you would jump in feet first to defend Cyclops & his mob of troughers.

5.3 million lost out because of the abolition, both Cyclops Broon & Darling said, publicly, that they could not/would not change the policy, well they have, dramatically, ALL political commentators are calling it a HUMILIATING U TURN
are they all wrong & you are right?

You are the Labour equivelant of the more extreme wing of the Cons who still support mad cow Thatcher & her policies, can see no wrong in anything they do. I bet you even support the war in Iraq.

Before you accuse me of being anti Labour nothing could be further from the truth, I am very anti NULabour, I have been a card carrying member of the LABOUR party for nearly 40 years, held posts in the PCP & canvassed in every election since Wilson, I have probably spent more time & effort supporting the LABOUR party than most of the trough gobblers who sit on the government benches, I can see when they make a pigs ear of things & I am prepared to stick my head above the parapet & say so, unlike you who sees no evil, hears no evil & believes that this shower can do no evil.

Best of luck in next weeks local elections, where are you standing?

Out of interest if you are so anti NEW Labour why don't you just leave the party?

Silly rants and use of terms like Cyclops Broon even popular tags like NULabour suggests you're just attention seeking.

As a card carrying member myself I have also "stuck my head above the parapet" but I have done it where it matters and in a way which, as a card carrying member you should know makes the change, at Party level and with MP's and not just via the CLP.

It could be argued that it was not a U turn but that is a play on words and either way it was humiliating and will I suspect cost a lot of good Councillors their seats, a bit like how opinion of Blair did the same for us.

Especially when so many vote on what the media (ALL political commentators) say.

We've now got the Tory Council (almost) everyone wanted but which has resulted in crime going up and services reduced.

Unlike Colonel I am not one who sees no evil, hears no evil or believes that "this shower" can do no evil, far from it, but I am someone who believes OLD Labour doesn't have a place.

The suggestion that we are the Labour equivalent of the more extreme wing of the Cons who still support mad cow Thatcher & her policies is laughable and if you truely believe that I can't understand why you would continue to pay membership to the party.

But you said:

"Before you accuse me of being anti Labour nothing could be further from the truth, I am very anti NULabour, I have been a card carrying member of the LABOUR party for nearly 40 years"

So and to use Colonel's phrase you are talking bollocks.

The abolition of the 10% income tax band is a disgrace especially when it emanates from a party which purports to alleviate the tax burden from those on the lowest incomes.

The Tories are clambering all over this, but they have not said they would reinstate the 10% band if they became elected.

Cheers Trumpy

I knew I'd seen this rant before but couldn't remember who it was by:

I think most are agreed it should never have happened but I also think that most would also agree of the political rants that under the NUTories and "Green" Dave things would hardly be different, they wouldn't change any of it and most of what is being said is just electioneering.

Odd thing is I thought "Green" Dave said he wanted to put an end to the shout at each other bollocks over the dispatch box.

Let us be honest, there is very little difference between the policies of New Labour and the Tories under Cameron.
