The site listed below is dangerous...it has 15 pop ups and one of them carries a virus. This site is trying to link up with other sites. Several of the pop ups carry "Lolita and Young" in the titles and some are of a very dubious nature.

Done that but it is a russian site and have had dealings with them before..
They do very little except bombard you with virus mail which just winds me up.

Marcus. I think Joe might have a point. Strands intention is to warn other webmasters and quite right too. But there are certain unsavoury people out there who might just be attracted by the idea of illegal and revolting content. So this thread could unintentionaly act as a free ad for Russian kiddie sites.
I remember a couple of years ago when I was new to the internet I visited a non-porn electronics site to do with chipping phones and sat boxes and before I knew it my browser was filled with pop ups from various (mainly Russian) sites advertising the most vile pornogaphy you could imagine. I was so alarmed by this that I started shutting each popup as fast as they appeared but there were so many that they crashed my browser and I ended up with a full screen add that I could not escape from. Being new I was unaware of the Alt + F4 thing. It put me off surfing the net for months because I was so worried about illegal stuff being forced upon people who are not looking for it. I felt as if just innocently browsing around could lead you to having traces of kid porn sites lurking in your PC. As I say I was new then so not really aware of the technical aspects. But even the idea of them popping up in my browser was enough to make me think that the internet was a sick place. Worse thing was it was a laptop belonging to a government department so being naive I thought I was going to be accused of being a Garry Glitterphile. Thats why I never visit porn sites. Its safer and healthier to buy a video than risk wading through a sea of filth with links to illegal stuff which always happens on the internet.
I think the net is great for info and shopping for porn vids or DVDs but porn sites are a mugs game and full of risks as described above.
Or perhaps I am just put off internet porn by those revolting popups about Rumanian orphans.

Interesting article. It seems like a sensible approach by the police (for once) in that it targets the real culprits rather than Joe Bloggs who accidently clicked on the wrong link. It sounds like a great idea but I would have felt more comfortable if it had been any other force in England and Wales other than West Midlands.
West Midlands police have a very bad history for corruption and fitting people up on false evidence. So lets hope they are progressing from the days of beating confessions out of people at gun point (Birmingham Six and other less high profile cases) and are moving towards being a police service that catches the guilty rather than manufactures evidence to suit whoever they have decided will be going to prison. It always irked me that senior detectives knew who was responsible for a series of violent crimes but let him go because he gave them info on other criminals and instead they pinned the crimes on some local druggie. Free Masonary? (no not free tiles for your roof JJ before you say it)

Free TGP's usually end up being nothing but loops from one blind alley to the next.Every now and then you'll fina a gem but the call cost involved is normally more than a three day of a reputable paysite-commonsense.
The 'the Forum cats' recently posted link shows all the potential ripoffs in all systems ie free,pay,avs etc.
I had the same fears with popups when I first started.Can imagine it would have been a hundred times worse surfing on government property.When you consider that everywhere you surf can be later retrieved from the ISP is scary.The popups aren't as bad as they were but the blind links still continue which is why I give TGP's a miss.Too be fair there are a couple that deliver the goods.
The bottom line is be specific when searching.

I have IE6 and one of these pages added URLs to my favourites without my knowledge and changed my start page
