pcan anyone help me? recently installed a downloaded version of avg pro 08 from a torrent & its really messed my pc up, i cant remove it & its making my pc shut down, a few trojans were detected after the install somethings seriously wrong, any help pls?

Try restoring your PC to a point before the installation. In Vista it's in the Control Panel under Backup/Restore.

Best option (but too late if you haven't) is to use software like Norton Ghost and make regular backups of the C drive, then should anything like this happen, just roll the machine back.

already tried reinstalling from my backup & recovery discs but the problem is still there, i installed a version of nero 8 yesterday too so not sure which program had the virus, i can start in safe mode & no virus is present but if i start normally the avg prog is there even tho i reinstalled windows & didnt reinstall any antivirus progs

I don't really know what's going on, but if you completely reinstalled windows from scratch, neither AVG, Nero or any of your personal data would survive. Sounds more like you've just recovered your own personal data files, rather than install windows itself.

any ideas of how to uninstall that avg if that is the case, or should i install xp from an old disc i have?

I had the same and had to completely re-format. My comp guy said it was probably a new visus called Rostock something or other.

just used my recovery disc again & the avg is stiff there, where as when i've used recovery b4 it has formatted my c drive & loaded windows again, is avg somehow stopping the recovery ghost prog from doing its job?
