Billy Joel on South Bank Show 13/7/08

Post by Ace »

Set yer DVD recorders/videos for a great episode featuring Billy Joel tomorrow night.
Even if its a lame episode, you can have a laugh at Melvyn Braggs ridiculous toupee.
Billy has featured here several times, and I won't have anyone 'diss' him, even if his recentoutput has not been of the standard expected...well, apart from '12 Gardens'. Lost his way after Storm Front which featured new personnel, but he's still a top performer and in my opinion, is better than Elton 'Temper Tantrum' John

He's written some great stuff over the years, and The Stranger is a brilliant album.

I think The Stranger is indeed a great album, BUT has several songs played to death on it. My personal favourite album is 52nd Street from 1978.
I have all Billys albums and whilst there is the odd duff track on some of his albums, but his output is generally immaculate. Great performer as well. Seen him several times, and like Springsteen, gives 100% in every show that lasts past 2 hours.
