To say it pays to shop around would be an understatement trouble is the bastards never tell you what your speeds will be just what the maximum will be.

That is arse gravy of the highest magnitude.

Demon is ADSL, Be is ADSL2+, big difference.

Be and O2 are the same company

The reason Virgin is so low is because they are lying bastards who use fibre optic cable as well as copper.

Another thing to consider is that Be (which happens to be my ISP) tends to be used by techie types (like me) who will play around with their wiring and the settings on the supplied router to get the fastest speed.

The problem is the advertising - "up to 8Mbit" is completely misleading as it is technically impossible to get 8Mbit data transfer.

Up to 8mb is exactly why I posted it

When you read what is acceptable as the minimum it makes you cringe

The sales pitch is always up to and not what they actually deliver in
YOUR AREA...buyer beware even before you try & decide on which plan

Its a general guide and not even close to a definitve list
Only a fool would sign up without doing further research into all the various types of connections available

If one even exists?
