Private Browsing Comes to Firefox
December 8, 2008 - 5:23 pm PDT - by Adam Ostrow 9 Comments Mozilla has just launched Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 for download. The most notable new feature is probably private browsing mode, which lets you browse without having any of your Web history stored locally.

In a blog post, Mozilla indicates that this is ?perfect for online holiday shopping!? but you can probably think of some less savory reasons you may want to use such a feature. The developer who designed private browsing for Firefox has shared some details about how it works and how to use it.

Private browsing is already a part of several other Web browsers, including IE8, Safari, and Google Chrome. Speaking of Chrome, the new Beta for Firefox 3.1 includes a number of enhancements designed to improve performance and speed ? perhaps the greatest strength of the Google browser versus the Mozilla product.

The full details of the release are available on the Mozilla blog.

When I gave Firefox a try, I decided to give it a month and then I'd make a decision about whether to go back to IE... almost 3 years on and I still haven't made the decision, i just carry on using the superb firefox.

Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?
