Tam Paton (Bay City Rollers' manager) dies
Tam, the larger than life, 70 year old manager of the 1970's band, has popped his clogs. They pre-dated me (my era was really the 1980's, when I was a teen) but I have heard about them a lot since. You don't hear their music talked about as much as you hear how the band are allegedly owed over ?120 million, and never saw a penny of it, and secondly how the lead singer, Les McKewon, has been afraid of the manager (Paton) ever since the band split. McKewon has said he even feared that Paton would harm his (McKewon's) parents at one point. McKewon still apparently has councelling about Paton and his time with, and the subsequent follow on from, his time with the Rollers. Now that Paton has shuffled off maybe Les will have some closure. Was anyone on here a fan of the Rollers?

Re: Tam Paton (Bay City Rollers' manager) dies
Paton claimed that he and McKeown got it together, but I think McKeown has denied this. But Paton was certainly gay and liked younger guys. A lot younger by all accounts as he was jailed for 'interfering' with minors a few years after the Rollers broke up.
I remember Les McKeown said that he went to see Tam Paton in the 1980's, sometime after the band had split, and he was accompanied by his elderly parents. Apparently both of Paton's large dogs took off and knocked McKeown over. Les got up and Paton said to him "you see Les, bad things can happen to people - if you know what I mean..." McKeown claims that Paton then looked at his parents then looked back at him. McKeown read this as a threat. He said he felt from that day on that Paton was going to do something to harm his parents.
It will be interesting to hear what McKeown's reaction to Paton's death is. I doubt a day has gone by, since the Rollers split up, where he hasn't thought about Paton - and much of his life since would have been negatively affected by it. Maybe McKeown really will be able to move on now...

Here's Les McKeown talking earlier this year about him, Paton and the band.
He says he is bisexual and had sex with Paton. Paton says he didn't.

No I believe that was an Urban Myth ... but it is well documented that both these fellows where gayer than a tartan jump suit ...
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

I knew Tam when he lived near me at Streatham, South London and I also knew Les McKewon (is this the right spelling?) because he was a muso friend of Lydsay Honey and in fact I had him acting in a hardcore film.
When I visited Tam's flat his daughter would never let me in if Dad was not home!
