We all know the rights and wrongs of piracy but how many people here can honestly say they?ve never watched/listened to some hooky media.
I remember a few years ago I was at a car boot sale and I noticed somebody selling some discs which simply had 3 xxxs on them. I bought a couple (wrong I know) but I eased my conscience by thinking of the many times I?d paid to have items delivered ?in plain brown packaging? only to find it was utter crap.
I know some producers take part on this forum and I don?t doubt you?re all honest but back in the days when it was all under the counter stuff I know I got ripped off several times. I?m certainly not blaming you for the dodgy traders that went before ---- Sullivan and the like but it might help explain why some people take advantage of what?s available out there.
I know there?s no excuse for buying illegal discs but people go to these car boots/markets looking for a bargain so I suppose many people know it?s wrong but regard it as a ?minor? crime. I doubt the producers would see it in the same light so I?d be interested to hear what other forumites think.
Hopefully this will be a fairly neutral discussion.
Piracy
Re: Piracy
Not talking porn, I do it on general principle now. I get pissed off that the studios have ruined the format of DVD with fucking anti piracy ads that take forever and you can`t skip.
Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.
In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

Re: Piracy
I seldom go to the cinema now and I prefer to get a dvd which I can watch in the comfort of my own home. It really pisses me off to buy a film on the strength of the really exciting trailer you see on the tv only to find that it's the only good bit in the whole film.

Those ads are not just annoying, but could also be detrimental.
With all that trendy grainy film and fast editing, they probably make piracy look quite cool to the youth audience they're aimed at.

Re: Piracy
The main reason that porn is a favourite for pirates is because here in the UK you can only legally purchase R18s in a licensed sex shop who sell at a huge mark up, in fact it is probably more profitable for producers to pirate their own films around boot sells rather than sell them through the legal distributors, for a start you would save ?1,500 + by not bothering to have them classified and your sells would all be cash which goes straight in to your own bin, but of course doing it that way would be illegal !wink!
Re: Piracy
Is it still technically illegal to send porn by post ? if so how do you manage to deliver to your suppliers ?

There's a legal loophole where you can use carrier pigeon.
