Good business for Utd. ?80 million for a player who does not want to play for you makes a lot of sense. They will now be able to afford players who do want to play for them, like Tevez, and the kindly American owners who did Utd such a favour by buying them on tick can afford another interest payment. Trebles all round!

A lot of businesses run on debt. The only time you hear about them is when they have difficulty servicing the debt which hasn't applied to Utd thus far. The papers like to comment on this practice when it applies to football clubs .. why don't they do the same to high street names and other big business ? Probably because their share price would be harmed.

It's a common practice. On a micro level people 'max out' credit cards too. If you consider the number of mailings about new business and balance transfers you probably receive this isn't discouraged as a practice.

It doesn't make it right. Both the Glazers at Utd and the Bozos at Liverpool bought clubs with no debt, and then loaded the debt incurred in buying them onto the club. They basically bought the club, then mortgaged it to afford buying it. The practice stinks.

I think Utd may struggle to retain their title next season.
They limped over the line this year and were well beaten in the CL final. I still think their best players are Giggs and Scholes, and how old are they?
Van Der Saar and Vidic looked shakey at times.
Still I suppose they have 80 million quid to put things right. Be interesting to see how much they spend and who on.

Limped over the line? They got 90 points which is more than the 2 title winning seasons previous.

They were beaten, according to the Catalan press, by the best Barca side ever. No shame in that.

Liverpool did the double over Man Utd and Chelsea last season. That's 12 points right there. They'll not be able to do that again and with Arsenal having a bit of catching up to do and Chelsea having to bed in yet another manager, who's not familiar with our game, I'd say Man Utd will be there or thereabouts again ? Ronaldo or not.
