"Regretful" Hazel Blears' very lucrative departure
Hazel, the pint-sized motorbike loving former minister, who criticised Grodon Brown, claimed a bit too much in the way of expenses, and who wore a badge further criticising Brown and his government, is all over the news channels today 'full of regret'. Did you know that every minister, when the resign, and regardless of what they have resigned over, get ?20,000 the day they leave, and within 7 days they normally have 3 very highly-paid executive positions in the private sector - trading off the connections they made in Whitehall? Politics is the only profession where you can be out on your ear, leave under a cloud, and get given a bundle of loot when that happens, and end up with several other jobs immediately. Your hours of work reduce and your annual income enourmously increases. It's all wrong. Wouldn't it be better to have these people leave, without a pay-off, and have their future earning ability capped if they have left government under a cloud?

Re: "Regretful" Hazel Blears' very lucrative departure
It is certainly wrong to be rewarded for bad bahaviour, with a large pay-off and directorships, when you are out. She will keep her MP's salary of over ?1,000 a week so it's not as if she is broke. I saw on TV that Blears is such a motorbike nut that she regularly dons her leathers and hammers it down the motorway all the way from Salford to central London! It's strange how the Labour party are supposed to be there for the working people and said they were the party who would never be sleazy like the Tories were, and yet so many of them have had their fingers in the till...
Re: "Regretful" Hazel Blears' very lucrative departure
There is absolutely no justification for anyone having their fingers in the till Max but one thing I would like to know is why the fees office didn't tell people to fuck off in full.
With regards to the point about being there for the working people don't forget the minimum wage it's a lot better now apparently and if I recall something Green Dave and the Whoops-A-Daisy clan were originally against.!laugh!

andy, the fees office are just there to follow the stupid rules and to just give cash to these people when they apply for it. They have no conscience or feeling about public money being wasted anymore than MP's do.

Max did you know this...
The cheque that Hazel held high... "this is the capital gains tax that WOULD have been payable if it was required"....
The captial gains tax was not needed to be paid... but as a "honest" MP she would pay it anyway.... BOLLOCKS!! If you sent a cheque to the inland revenue, with your tax reference... they would cash it and if no tax was payable ...add a credit for that amount to YOUR account... Next years tax may see pint sized Hazel getting a tax refund !!!
Shes a clever little girl
!oops!
