Formula One to end?
According to the BBC lunchtime news, F1 could be a thing of the past very soon. After 60 years of existance, something of a mutiny may be about to take place as many of the teams are considering setting up a rival competitition. This has happened in football, but the differnce is the original competition continued, whereas in racing F1 may end to be replaced by something else, rather than having two competitions running in tandem. For any F1 fans, is this a good thing, and what will it mean for racing and for the fans who watch it? I'm not that up on it personally. Will it improve racing as a competitive sport or be a negative thing for it, and will people mourn the ending of F1?

Whatever happens to it, it will still be like watching paint dry.

F1 won't disappear.
Eventually Max Mosley will (be made to) see sense and promise to retire from FIA at the end of the year, the "two tier" formula that would emerge if there was a voluntary ?40m cap will get booted out with a more progressive spending cap over the next few seasons. FOTA will be given more say in the running of the sport and eventually even uncle Bernie will relinquish some of the rights to the sport itself which will see more money going to circuit improvements instead of lining Bernie's already full pockets (I mean... how many more billions does the dwarf need? It's not like he can spend it all), ticket prices reduce and crowds increase.

"But how to make Liverpool economically prosperous? If only there was some way for Liverpudlians to profit from going on and on about the past in a whiny voice."

They tried to get hold of Max Mosley for an interview on Sky News --- but he was tied up all day

He holds the whip hand.

I've become a bit of an F1 fan over the past few years. I used to wonder what was so exciting until something clicked a few years ago and I found myself drawn into it.
Anyway, it seems to me that a rival competition with the best cars and drivers and no budget cap would have to be better than the 'low calorie, greenie approved' version the current F1 competition is turning into. I get the feeling Bernie will cave in after realising he couldn't make money out of a bunch of unknown drivers racing second rate cars while the real thing is available elsewhere and out of his control.
