When I first read that, I was sure multi-track was being used in Britain before '68 but then I remembered hearing George Martin talking about Abbey Road studios. He said something about having traveled to the U.S. in the early 60's to see the latest recording methods and brought back those ideas to use in the UK.
Phil 'I'm MAD' Spector used it to create his wall of sound didn't he?

He was recording 26 track in 1951!! A true pioneer and master of his art.I urge you to listen to this.He had a good innings though and was playing shows in New York weekly into his nineties.Way to go.

I was looking for a brand-new car last year and some were still
being sold, as new, with cassette-decks!
Needless to say, I bought one with a 6-CD autochanger.....
