Bloody scary how they have covered this up for decades. And moved offenders to other parishes to continue abusing. How anyone can even start to condone this mass paedophilia is a mystery that beggars belief. Wonder what Obergruppenfurher aka The Pope makes of this? It must be a global issue, not merely Irish priests. How can someone in Ireland profess to be Catholic when this criminal activity goes on unabashed. I bet no senior member of the Irish clergy ever stands trial.

Yeah with these 50 or so cases over a few decades we can justifiably say all priests are child abusers. Great post.

Yeah that would be grossly unfair to the other priests who are doing a good job.

I am not religious myself and see no need for preiests and all this religious stuff but I dio respect those who have such a deep faith that they try every day to do everthing right within their beliefs.

Having said that there are some seriously contradicting hypocrites within most religious circles.

This doesnt do the religious folk any favours but no doubt the back benchers will blame it on the temptations to evils within our society or maybe they should be vet their priests more carefully.

Child abuse in the Catholic church has been rife since at least the 4th century. It was claimed they inroduced rules on Priests and senior clergy being celibate so they could devote more of their time to god, but really it was just so the Catholic church could get rich. At least 11 of the 12 Apostles were married as were most early Pope's, Cardinals, etc. Most were wealthy and they, just like anyone else would, left their money to their family when they died. The Catholic church didn't like this so they prevented any of the clergy from having partners so that when they died they were more likely to leave their money to the church. The Catholic church is now a multi-billion dollar commercial organisation.

They are also responsible for the spread of AIDS in Africa. To tell people that they and their partner may not use a condomn when they have sex has further speard AIDS in Africa. I always found it amazing how they regarded two consenting adults bonking and using a condom as bad, yet a Catholic priest raping a choir boy as OK. The guy who is the present Pope spent about 20 years in his previous job within the Catholic church supposedly routing out paedophile Preists. All he did was cover it up and move people to other areas when it occured. Deals were done where the family of the abused kid would be asked not to press charges if the Priest was moved to another area - an area where he would not come into contact with kids, therefore he couldn't molest them. Often the family agreed. Then they would just move the guy to another area where he WOULD come into contact with kids, he carried on abusing, and the senior figures in the Catholic church just turned a blind-eye.

The Catholic church is all about money and power and effectively condones child abuse on a huge scale. It is one of the most hideous institutions on earth.

Well said Max. The value of the treasures in the Vatican could feed the entire third world but no fucking chance of it ever being sold off. We must remember the Pope himself has a summer retreat that would shame Bill Gates. And I can't imagine him eating plain pasta and cheap chianti.....hyprocrites of the highest order.

The church is just taking care of business like any corporation would do. Since institutionalised child sexual abuse seriously undermined their brand values they managed the problem by suppressing it. That can't happen without collusion.

The Roman Catholic Churh is an evil institution with a history covered in blood and torture and child abuse has always been prolific. Would be priests join in order to have access to children in care. Most children in orpanages have a living parent but are persuaded to give up their children. Think about it!
